The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved Ulipristal Acetate, which will be marketed under the brand name as “ella.” The FDA claims that ella is an acceptable emergency contraceptive for the American market. Watson Pharmaceuticals, a specialty drug company located in California and New Jersey, will introduce the drug by the end of the year.
There are some things that you should know about ella and other so-called “emergency contraceptives.” Emergency contraceptives are called such, because they can be taken up to five days after physical intercourse. They are abortion-inducing drugs, not “emergency contraceptives.” The drugs cause a hardening of the uterus that does not permit a fertilized egg to implant, thereby causing the termination of that littlest being. Calling these drugs something else, doesn't change the ugly truth. Refusing to allow a fertilized egg implantation in the womb, as ella and other forms of “emergency contraception” does, kills innocent human life.
Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him...” It is for this reason, that human life is created in the image of God, that all human life has intrinsic value. This is why we defend the sanctity of human life at all stages, and whatever its condition. |
